Organic raw shea butter Shea butter is a wonderful moisturizer. It has softening properties, which are immediately apparent. It helps the skin retain moisture with regular use and is widely used to treat Eczema. It is, remarkably, completely non-comedogenic, which means it will not block pores.

It is a natural sunscreen and provides protection from airborne toxins which is why it is noted for its anti-aging properties.

Cold pressed organic coconut oilCoconut Oil is easily absorbed into the skin and incredibly hydrating. It is very sun stable, it will not oxidize on the skin and will boost your skin's own sun protection capabilities by way of its antioxidant content. Coconut oil is renowned for it's healing and antifungal properties.

Organic, cold pressed, avocado oil - Avocado oil is easily absorbed into deep tissue, and has wonderful emollient properties. It is rich in vitamins A, B1, B2 and D, lecithin, potassium as well as vitamin E. Avocado oil contains the following fatty acid: palmitic, palmitoleic, stearic, oleic, linoleum, linolenic

In a study done at the Department of Food Engineering and Biotechnology, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in 1991, it was found that avocado oil significantly increases the amount of collagen in the skin - which normally is under attack as we grow older.

Cold pressed Sweet Almond Oil- Sweet almond oil is rich in antioxidant vitamins A, D and E as well as vitamins B1, B2, B6, It contains linoleic acid (Omega 6 essential fatty acid) and oleic acid (omega 9 fatty acid) also palmitic acid, stearic acid and small amounts of alpha-linolenic acid (Omega 3 essential fatty acid). Almond Oil has excellent emollient qualities, which soften and soothe skin, it is less greasy than many oils and easily absorbed by your skin and is of great benefit to the skin's natural lipid barrier. It does not block pores. Almond Oil contains kaempferol - a powerful antioxidant, and quercetin - a flavonoid used to treat eczema. It is a rich source of minerals such as manganese, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and selenium. Almond oil is said to reduce scar tissue that is associated with the after-effects of acne and stretch marks. We use only cold pressed Almond Oil as it retains all of its therapeutic value. Other extraction processes use solvents to extract more oil from the nut which destroys nutrients and can contaminate the resulting oil.

Natural Vitamin E oil • Vitamin E is a powerful natural antioxidant. It is used for the treatment of wrinkles, stretch marks, scarring and premature aging of the skin - stimulating elasticity and blood circulation. We use a mixture of alpha, beta, gamma and delta tocopherols which are 100% natural. This range of tocopherols gives maximum benefits - We do not use the cheaper, inferior, synthetic versions which are derived from petrochemicals.

Benzoin resin • Resin provides antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and astringent properties. Styrax Benzoin Resin benefits for skin and hair: protects the skin by forming an invisible film that prevents moisture loss, smoothing and improving the skin's elasticity.

Clary sage essential oil • Clary Sage is anti Bacterial, anti Septic and it's astringent properties mean it strengthens and tones skin, muscles and hair follicles. It is well known as an aphrodisiac. Clary Sage oil is very effective in reducing blood pressure by relaxing the veins and arteries and reduces the risk of heart attacks, brain hemorrhage etc. It reduces inflammations and induces a calming effect.

Geranium also minimizes scar tissue while rapidly healing wounds. Inhaling Geranium assists us in releasing depression, negative memories, and nervous tension while restoring feelings of hope.

Calendula flower extract - Lyonsleaf grow's Calendula Officinalis (otherwise known as Pot Marigold) at their farm on the Mendip Hills. Calendula is one of the most ancient healing herbs and has been renown for its remarkable qualities for thousands of years. Because it heals, rejuvenates, has anti-inflammatory qualities and an antimicrobial effect, it is used for cuts and abrasions, nappy rash and chapped lips, any sort of inflamed skin and as a general healing and rejuvenating preparation. It is less well known for internal use as a remedy for digestive and urinary infections, as a mouthwash or gargle for sore throats, tonsillitis, and gum disease. Its uses are, in fact, far too many to mention.

We love its well-known healing qualities and it's remarkable success in treating eczema and psoriasis but also because it promotes collagen regeneration and is rich in antioxidants making it possibly the oldest anti-aging treatment in the world.

We grow, pick and dry the flowers and use them to infuse our base oils, which we then use to make our Calendula rich oil-based products. We also use the dried petals in our Aromatherapy Bath Bags.

The useful components of calendula include carotenoids, flavonoids, mucilage, resin, polysaccharides, aromatic plant acids as well as saponins, glycosides, and sterols.
